Our customer service centre received a call from a frantic client one morning as she was having trouble with her gas hot water system and had guests coming over to stay with her that night. She was very desperate for assistance so we had one of our fully qualified plumbers on her doorsteps the following hour.
The plumber arrived to be greeted by the client. She was very worried as the guests that were coming were staying for 5 days for a wedding so hot water would be paramount in preparation. The plumber began his inspection immediately. She had made multiple attempts to light the pilot light but had no such luck. The reason for this was soon discovered by our plumber. The unit’s thermocouple had failed and was in need of replacing. The thermocouple acts as a sensor for the gas valve that allows gas into the system, powering the pilot light. When it is faulty, the gas flow is switched off, the pilot light will not light and there is no heat going to the water in the tank.
Luckily, to the joy of the customer, it is a quick replacement job. The plumber even had the appropriate replacement part in the van. The customer was thrilled and agreed to go ahead straight away. And in no time at all, the old thermocouple was removed and the new one put in its place. The system tested and the pilot light was working perfectly. The client couldn’t be happier. While the plumber was there she even got him to fix a few leaking taps throughout the house. Once everything was done, she made her payment to the plumber using his mobile eftpos machine, received the paperwork which included her 12 month warranty on all the parts and labour from today and the plumber was off to his next job.
The client receive a call from our customer service manager later that day to see how everything went. She was so happy to hear from us as she wanted to say how grateful she was that we could help in her time of need and that the house has hot water running perfectly.
